How do I even start this?
This was one of our (Ryan and I) most spontaneous-decisions-ever-made and what an adventure. We literally went there and got the Tshirt.
I feel like I need to paint a proper picture of this entire escapade. Ryan and I were watching a documentary about the Foo Fighters one evening and about halfway through I asked if they still played shows – keep in mind I don’t know too much about them. He informed me that they were currently doing a world tour.
This was exactly what we needed. Some fun, music that Ryan loves, and songs I can sing along too. A few seconds later, we found ourselves on the laptop looking at upcoming shows. With timing on our side, there was a show over time we had available.
People have always told us that traveling in Europe is really affordable – we never really believed anyone until now. Now, our eyes have been opened and now, we can’t wait to discover more places. So needless to say, without any hesitation, we booked our tickets and next thing you know, we were in Ireland.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long. 72 hours was all we had and I have the “walking blisters” to prove it – Ryan said I should have declared them at customs. No joke, my toes are swollen.
Day 01 | Foo Fighters
We arrived on the Wednesday morning of the show. Our plan was to make our way into the city center and spend some time walking around while waiting to check into the hostel. Little did we know that the distance from the center to where we were sleeping was actually quite a long walk with a suitcase on wheels.
Halfway, we found an amazing little diner that personally we think has the best burgers in Europe. It was amazing.
After our pit stop, we continued making our way to the hostel through the pouring rain. This took us about an hour.
We arrive. Literally exhausted.
Next move: unpack, get ready and meet new friends at a pub before the show.
Things didn’t go as planned and we end up walking into the show 5 minutes before Foo Fighters started planning. It took us 3 hours of waiting for busses to a point where we had to call Uber.
The Foo Fighters were absolutely amazing. The show was amazing. The experience, amazing. The rain, not so amazing. I looked like a drowned rat at a Kiss concert – makeup smudged all over my face – BUT we had fun and would do it over again.
