The “Nuts” at Olive Tastings

written by This Jones June 26, 2019

I’m about to tell you a story about one of my many most embarrassing moments, ever.

Let’s go back to 17-year-old Claudia.
Ahhh, so young, naive and little-miss-know-it-all – automatically presumed I was all grown up,  little did I know.

Sundays were often days that as a family or with friends, we’d explore Cape Town and go on little outings. One day, we went to visit a wine and olive farm. So naturally, there’s a test tasting.

Being too young to drink adult beverages I decided to take full advantage of other things, like the food. There were different loaves of bread, olives, and nuts.

Back then my tastebuds were still developing. I wasn’t too much of an olive gal, so I skipped them and went straight to the nuts… wet nuts… why were they wet? Well, this is what happened:

“those are pips… from olives… that people… have eaten…”

PS: thank you for taking the time to stop by : )
