This past weekend the family and I had a one-night getaway. We got out of the city and found ourselves tucked far away in between the beautiful mountains of the peaceful Overberg.
Doornbosch is only a 2-hour drive from Cape Town. It sits between Gansbaai and Napier and you’d be happy to know that Pearly Beach is only a few minutes away. The drive is beautiful, so while you’re there make sure to stop off at a few places. It’s a central destination to, the always debated, Southernmost tip of Africa and just like the website describes, the life in Doornbosch is “relaxed, quiet and unspoiled”.
The guesthouse has three massive bedrooms all with en-suite, twin sink bathrooms. There is a large open plan living area consisting of the kitchen, lounge, fireplace and a beautiful dining area. The three double doors take you out on a very big veranda. Just take a look.
Here are a few things you can do while you stay at Doornbosch:
- Game drives (Springbok, Zebra, Fallow Deer, Eland)
- Bird watching
- Walking, hiking and/or mountain biking
- Horse riding
- Star Gazing
Do yourselves a favour and take binoculars and mosquito repellent. Also, keep a lookout for ticks if you are planning on visiting during summertime.
